I was reading InStyle magazine over the weekend and found this GORGEOUS red military cardigan by Ralph Lauren, the Jaylynn Heritage Wool Cardigan. Oh Mr. Lauren, you must have read my mind.
I began to drool and went straight to the Ralph Lauren site to check out the cardigan. It cost $169, which wasn’t too bad. And Ralph Lauren had a 10% off discount.
I didn’t buy it at the time and was doing some casual browsing this morning when I found the same cardigan at Lord & Taylor for $139. Lord & Taylor also had a 15% off discount code, THANKS, for the Thanksgiving season, and free shipping.
I did some quick comparison shopping at Macy’s ($169 for cardigan, only discount was $20 off $100 or more on an order), Bloomingdale’s ($169 for cardigan, no discernible discounts), Nordstrom ($139 for cardigan, no discernible discounts), and Belk.com ($139 for cardigan, no discernible discounts).
I ended up paying $127.61 for the cardigan ($118.15 plus tax) at Lord & Taylor, and saved at least $20 than if I had bought it anywhere else.
Lesson of the story?
1) Do some comparison shopping before buying anything and….
2) Look for online coupons!!
A little effort will go a long way, and you’ll end up looking as fabulous as her:
