1) Walking with the president and their daughters Malia (far left) and Sasha to Air Force One prior to leaving for Moscow, Russia on July 5, 2009, first lady Michelle Obama takes a cue from 1960s era fashion. She wears a floral dress from Talbots, first seen on her May 2009 Essence magazine cover shot, as well as a yellow Dear Cashmere cardigan and Sonia Rykiel belt. The look is topped off with pearls and black kitten heels.

2) Michelle Obama returned to one of her favorite designers, Narciso Rodriguez, for this coral dress and peach jacket. She pulls the look together with a belt by Sonia Rykiel, looking vibrant as she views Russian Orthodox icons with Russian first lady Svetlana Medvedeva (left) in the Kremlin in Moscow on July 6, 2009.

Wu also designed Obama’s white chiffon inaugural gown.

4) In a coral silk crepe sheath — accentuated with neckline pleats — by her favorite designer, Maria Pinto, Michelle stands alongside her husband, president-elect Barack Obama, President George W. Bush, and first lady Laura Bush outside the diplomatic entrance to the White House. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Pinto wasn’t averse to following the Obamas to Washington, D.C. “Hell, yeah!” said the designer, who has seen sales spike 45 percent in the last year. “I’m going anywhere they want me to go.”

6) The first lady wore a glamorous gown by Indian designer Naeem Khan to the first state dinner held by her husband’s administration. She wore a matching wrap, a stack of bangle bracelets on her wrist and dangling earrings. The guests of honor at the dinner were Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife, Gursharan Kaur.
I’m always surprised by how composed, intelligent, and ladylike Anna Wintour is. She may not be friendly or open but she is certainly nothing like the monster we all think she is, or, as she references to NY Post, “I’m an ice queen, I’m the Sun King, I’m an alien fleeing from District 9 and I’m a dominatrix. So I reckon that makes me a lukewarm royalty with a whip from outer space. What do you think?”
Throughout her interviews, it’s obvious that she takes her job seriously and knows that she has to be disciplined and decisive in making sure everything gets done, especially in the fashion magazine industry. At one point, she says, “People don’t always like what I have to tell them.” Most people don’t react positively if they’re told to redo something, especially something that required creative energy, but because Anna has demonstrated that she knows how to make Vogue sell, her wishes should be respected.
Anna also looks great for her age – I love her knee-length dresses (often floral), coats, and necklaces! Not so crazy about the sunglasses but she obviously knows what looks good on her.
Lovely dress
LOVE the snakeskin coat!

Don’t ever think you have to spend tons of money to look great! I’m always able to find amazing pieces for low prices that I find myself not spending that much money on clothing. Below are gorgeous dresses under $100 that you all should check out!
I LOVE the color red. It’s bright, cheerful, and alive. I’m not a huge fan of dark or neutral colors because I think they make a person look more muted and dull. Consequently, I’ve never understood why everyone insists on wearing “little black dresses.” Yeah, it makes you look thin but also really boring.
Also, I personally think I look nice in red because I have alabaster-colored skin and long black hair.
A friend and I at an event - I was surprised the photo turned out as nice as it did since this was taken after 10 hours of running around NYC
Below are some gorgeous red clothing pieces I found for ya’ll to buy for this holiday season. Don’t blend into the crowd this year!
Don’t forget to check out some amazing Cyber Monday deals!
J.Crew currently has a ridiculous number of gorgeous sweaters on sale at the moment. I cannot stress how important it is you buy NOW because products are going fast!
My obsession with military-style clothing began when I saw Jessica Alba wearing the most GORGEOUS COAT OF ALL TIME, a Derek Lam for Tod’s camel coat.

I searched high and low for a similar-looking coat and was about to resort to breaking into Alba’s home and stealing hers when military-style coats FINALLY hit retail stores.

There was an absolutely fantastic show on the ABC last fall called Cashmere Mafia.
It was hailed as the new “Sex and the City,” a show about a group of successful female executives trying to juggle their careers and family in New York City.
The show was honestly not that bad – it was nice to see women in control for a change. But what was most striking was how utterly FANTASTIC everyone looked. The show’s wardrobe was under the creative control of Patricia Field, the fashion brainchild behind “Sex and the City.”
So who were the four lovely (and lucky) ladies who got to wear Patricia’s creations?
Lucy Liu as Mia Mason - Lucy, I LOVE your skirt. It's a good thing I wasn't on set when you filmed this scene because I would have snatched it right off your body
Miranda Otto as Juliet Draper
Bonnie Somerville as Caitlin Dowd
Frances O'Connor as Zoe Burden - Sorry, couldn't find a more exciting picture of her
Let’s take a look at some more beautiful clothes. I know ya’ll don’t want to read anything.
Lucy, Ugh, that pumpkin you're wearing is not flattering at ALL
Jack Yang is such a cutie
I'm going to steal that top too
That's some big hair, Miranda
Hmm, someone has a fetish for ponchos
I get upset when I have to wear high heels for an extended period of time too
Hmm, perhaps a blouse that wasn't so sickly green would have been better suited for Miranda's creamy skin tone and luscious, red hair
This was a getup for a golf scene if you can believe it
"It's okay, hon, everyone's forgotten about the ponchos and how ridiculous you looked in them"
Successful, Beautiful, and Happy
This shot - PERFECTION. Miranda Otto - I think I'm in love with you
You too, Bonnie Somerville
The women and their city
Although the show unfortunately wasn’t picked up for a second season, check out the first season on DVD!
I was reading InStyle magazine over the weekend and found this GORGEOUS red military cardigan by Ralph Lauren, the Jaylynn Heritage Wool Cardigan. Oh Mr. Lauren, you must have read my mind.
Stopped me in my tracks
I began to drool and went straight to the Ralph Lauren site to check out the cardigan. It cost $169, which wasn’t too bad. And Ralph Lauren had a 10% off discount.
I didn’t buy it at the time and was doing some casual browsing this morning when I found the same cardigan at Lord & Taylor for $139. Lord & Taylor also had a 15% off discount code, THANKS, for the Thanksgiving season, and free shipping.
I did some quick comparison shopping at Macy’s ($169 for cardigan, only discount was $20 off $100 or more on an order), Bloomingdale’s ($169 for cardigan, no discernible discounts), Nordstrom ($139 for cardigan, no discernible discounts), and Belk.com ($139 for cardigan, no discernible discounts).
I ended up paying $127.61 for the cardigan ($118.15 plus tax) at Lord & Taylor, and saved at least $20 than if I had bought it anywhere else.
Lesson of the story?
1) Do some comparison shopping before buying anything and….
2) Look for online coupons!!
A little effort will go a long way, and you’ll end up looking as fabulous as her:
Hi - I'm Star Li, an undergraduate senior at Cornell University. I'll be featuring beautiful clothes and anything interesting relating to fashion on this blog.
Throughout the blog, I'll have some pics of myself in different pieces of clothing. To give some perspective about how they may fit you, here are my measurements:
I have no problem shopping for clothes online as I always get size zero or small.
I like scouring the web for lovely pieces of clothing at affordable prices (helps me relax) so if you have any questions about where to find anything, let me know!
I'm not too big on shoes, bags, or accessories, so my knowledge in those areas will be more limited! :)
My specialties (not sure what else to call this) involve dresses, tops (I don't do t-shirts in public), blazers, and outerwear.
**Below are retailers where I get my clothes:
-J.Crew for outerwear, blazers, knee-length dresses, and anything cashmere. Anything I get at J.Crew, I know I can probably wear for life
-ModCloth and Forever 21 for short dresses
-Ann Taylor for business clothes - their 00 and 0P sizes fit me perfectly
-DSW for flats that actually fit my somewhat abnormally small size 5 feet
